DIGITAL XRAYS

We utilize the most advanced digital x-rays sensors to reduce patient radiation exposure and intraoral digital video cameras to help patients visualize problems and make informed decisions about their treatment.

CHILDREN

Our office was designed with your child in mind. At Valley Brook Dental children can receive care in a spacious, open, non threatening environment where cameras and sensors provide information while DVD’s and PlayStation games provide entertainment. We recommend that children accompany their parents during routine cleaning to familiarize them with the office environment then start regular visits when able to receive care. This point varies from child to child but usually begins between the ages of 2-3.

CROWNS & BRIDGES

We offer a wide range of crown and bridge materials and techniques to create the most favorable results for our patients with broken or missing teeth. Traditional porcelain to gold alloy crowns are widely used for individual crowns although traditional cast gold restorations are available. We also utilize all ceramic crowns where esthetic concerns are most pronounced such as the upper and lower front teeth. Metal free zirconium based all ceramic alternatives are also available for most short span bridges without compromising strength or function.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Implants function identically with natural tooth roots, providing the mechanical stimulation needed for promoting and maintaining jawbone health and integrity. Patients who have existing bone loss problems can often times be successfully treated with bone grafting procedures and custom implant devices that take advantage of the healthiest areas of jaw. Mini implants are used to stabilize dentures and partial denture appliances giving our patients added stability and comfort.

GUM THERAPY

We currently have both surgical and non-surgical approach to the management of adult periodontal disease. Our non-surgical approach involves sonic debridement with an antiseptic lavage and the placement of subgingival antibiotics. We also utilize a diode laser as an adjunctive therapy to help debride the periodontal pockets and allow tissue to regenerate using the LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) technique.

LASER DENTISTRY

We use a Diode Laser for non-surgical gum therapy and minor, soft tissue based surgical services like gingival recontouring and crown lengthening. The active medium of the diode laser is a semi-conductor P-N junction made in a synthetic crystal. A flexible optical fiber is used to transmit the laser energy to the surgical site. It works best on soft tissues and can cut very precisely with little or no collateral damage depending on the amount of energy needed during the surgery to achieve the proper incision depth. Many times the Diode Laser can be used without injections doing very precise surgery without causing bleeding or discomfort. We have found that it is the best laser for that purpose.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY

To treat rotated, decayed, or discolored teeth we utilize a combination of gel based tooth whitening, cosmetic bonding and porcelain veneers to achieve exceptional results. Tray based home whitening gels are used lighten teeth without the sensitivity of harsher, light activated, chairside gels. Cosmetic bonding is used to repair decayed areas and close gaps. We utilize ultra thin pressed ceramic veneers to provide patients with a beautiful combination of cosmetics and strength with minimal tooth reduction. Hand crafted with precision by professional dental labs and applied one by one by Dr. Gurecka, porcelain veneers are fitted and bonded to each tooth. Gaps and other imperfections disappear thereby create a more esthetic shape and color which, unlike cosmetic bonding, does not change over time. In some cases orthodontic treatment may be required to achieve the best possible results.

ROOT CANALS

Root canal therapy may be indicated to treat teeth that are chronically inflamed or infected due to decay, periodontal infections or fractures. We routinely treat both front and back teeth.

DENTURES AND PARTIALS

We offer premium, life like, dentures for the patients who want only the very best. This involves the use of characterized acrylic and customized teeth. We also offer both traditional metal framework based partial dentures and the new nonmetal, flexible Valplast partial dentures for patients who prefer a metal free alternative.

SLEEP APNEA

Obstructive sleep apnea is caused by airway blockage, usually when the soft tissue (tongue, soft palate and pharyngeal walls) in the rear of the throat closes while you sleep. The standard method of treatment has always been continuous positive air pressure. While this treatment is very effective, most patients do not tolerate it well and oral appliance are now being used as an alternative treatment for mild to moderate cases. Our office has been using a modified mandibular repositioning appliance to help patients with sleep apnea.
